Inspired by traditional, woven wicker baskets, Michel Boucquillon and Donia Maaoui have created a novel and original object that charmingly plays with the shapes of this traditional handcraft. The Vimini basket stands out thanks to its sophisticated design. After being cut with a laser, the sheet steel is molded in a series of mechanical production steps that once again rely on the Alessi workshop' skill to process this metal

Michel Boucquillon was born in Belgium in 1962. In 2000, he opened a new workshop dedicated to Industrial Design and experimental Architecture in Lucca-Tuscany in his "Casa Boucquillon", an extremely experimental place of exploration, meditation, life and work.
